Solar Electricity (Photovoltaic)

Can Solar work for my property?

We certainly hope so! We offer a free no-pressure consultation to help figure out if going solar works for you. What is most important is that you have free unshaded space on the ground or rooftop where solar panels can be installed. Once you are confident about that, please do contact us and one of our experts will evaluate if a solar power system will fit with your property and meet your energy needs. They will provide a detailed proposal including recommended system location, size, pricing and financial analysis.

Do I need to make any changes to my property and equipments to run on solar power?

No. Solar power electric systems fit seamlessly into your building. You won’t have to buy new appliances or change your electrical outlets; everything will work just the same as it did before. You should experience no practical changes except for one: you won’t have to pay a big utility bill every month!

How long will a solar power system last?

Most solar power systems are predicted to last between 25 and 35 years. Solfreedom’s agreements typically last for 20 years. If you go solar with SolFreedom, we’ll take care of all repairs and inverter replacements for the lifetime of your agreement. Get Started Now.

How much can I save?

When you begin to generate your own solar power, your utility bill will drop significantly. How much you can save will depend on the size of your solar system, your electricity usage and your current utility bill. Our experts will work with you to ensure that you get maximum savings possible. Remember you will get guaranteed savings for across the term of the agreement. Hence, your cumulative savings across 20 years will be huge and significant!

How much maintenance is required and how will SolFreedom monitor the system?

The entire maintenance and operations of the solar system will be done by SolFreedom.  Solar energy systems requires little maintenance, largely because it has no moving parts. All the system requires is minimal shade, occasional cleaning and inspection.

We will be installing a internet connected SCADA system which we will use to monitor the performance of the system remotely. Hence, if there are any faults, we will come to know of that immediately and we will rectify it immediately.

How much space is required per kWp installed?

Approximately 100 square feet per kWp installed.

How much time it will take for an installation?

Depends on the size of the installation. However, approximately for a 100 kWp system it shall take 1-2 months for the physical installation at the site once the materials have arrived and the designs and drawings have been frozen.

How reliable is solar power?

Solar systems built today are very reliable. They have proven to be dependable sources of energy for consumers across the world, supplying megawatts of energy. Some of the largest companies in the world have buildings powered by solar energy. SolFreedom has incredibly high quality standards and only uses the highest quality equipments to ensure our systems last.

Should I reroof before installing solar?

It’s not usually necessary to upgrade your roof before installing solar. We will be checking your roof and letting you know accordingly. Solar panels can last up to 40 years so it makes sense to avoid having to remove and reinstall them. Once the panels are installed, they may extend the life of your roof by shielding it from the elements.

Should I wait for new technology or for solar prices to drop further?

Solfreedom will lower your energy costs from Day 1 and every year you wait is another year of lost savings for you.

Now is really the best time to invest in a solar system with the combination of technology and cost. We continue to evaluate new technology and will offer it to our customers once it becomes a reliable and cost effective option.

The other key component in evaluating the right time to install solar is government incentives. Governments are currently offering incentives to go solar.  However, these programs are designed to reward early adopters of solar power, so the benefits continue to drop as the allotted funds are consumed.

What happens at night, or when there is rain or clouds?

Since the amount of power your solar system generates is a direct result of sunlight, it will produce slightly less energy when the weather is cloudy. Your system will not produce any energy at night. Your SolFreedom power system will be interconnected to your local utility grid, so that you can automatically begin to draw power from the grid whenever you need it. You won’t experience any power interruptions and the solar system synchronizes seamlessly with the grid with no effort on your part.

What happens if I sell my property before the solar agreement term limit is up?

Option 1: The PPA will be transferred to the new Power User ( After Credit Check), Option 2: The old power user buys the equipment(at fair market value), Option 3: We remove the system at a reasonable cost.

What happens when the utility grid is down and there is a blackout?

If you have a DG set, the solar system will start using the DG set as a reference and feed power into the internal grid. If there is no DG set, then the solar system will not generate any power during a blackout.

What if my roof is shaded?

Shade reduces the amount of electricity your system can produce. Our solar design team will work to position your panels where they can get maximum sun exposure but, on occasion, a roof may be too shady to make solar feasible.

Who will be responsible for the regulatory permissions?

We will be responsible for getting all the permissions that are required.

Will the panels be able to withstand high winds?

The panels can withstand winds of up to 170-200 kilometers per hour.

Solar Water Heating

Do I need to make any changes to my property and equipments to use Solar Water Heating?

No. Solar water heating systems fit seamlessly into your building. You won’t have to buy new appliances and everything will work just the same as it did before.

In addition to rooftop solar collectors, we install one or more water heating tanks. These tanks are connected to the solar collectors via insulated pipes. We provide you with a full set of structural and mechanical engineering plans for you to approve before installation begins.

You should experience no practical changes except for one: you won’t have to pay a big heating bill every month!

How does SolFreedom know how much energy I use for water heating?

SolFreedom uses utility grade metering to determine exactly how much energy we deliver to you each month. You will receive a solar heating bill from SolFreedom, where we demonstrate how much money and energy you saved, as well as what you would have paid without solar. With SolFreedom, you only pay for solar hot water consumed and the price you pay to SolFreedom is always lower than your current water heating cost.

How long will a solar water heating system last?

Most solar water heating systems are predicted to last between 25 and 30 years. Solfreedom’s agreements typically last for 15 years. If you go solar with SolFreedom, we’ll take care of all repairs and replacements for the lifetime of your agreement. Get Started Now.

How much space is required for a 100 liters per day system ?

Approximately 2 square meters.

How much time does it take for an installation?

Depends on the size of the installation. However, approximately for a 5000 LPD system it shall take 4-8 weeks for getting the entire system up and running including engineering, permitting and construction.

Should I wait for new technology or for solar prices to drop further?

Solfreedom will lower your energy costs from Day 1 and every year you wait is another year of lost savings for you.

Solar thermal technology is over a century old and the technology is already very robust and proven.

What happens on a cloudy or rainy day, or if the system breaks down?

Your existing water heating system serves as a backup to the solar water heating system and continues to function uninterrupted. SolFreedom’s monitoring system will alert our engineers of the problem immediately and we will address any problems affecting your system as soon as possible. SolFreedom only gets paid if you’re saving money, so we will ensure that the system works smoothly.
